Question: Is IHS-Biorhythm the same as Astrology?

Answer: No. Astrology is a very complicated system using the placements of planets, asteroids, etc., according to the time, place and date of someone's birth to calculate personalities and compatibilities. The average astrological reading contains thousands of words that are very often more ambiguous than specific ("This planet in this sign indicates that you are reclusive. That planet in that sign indicates that you are outgoing."). IHS-Biorhythm is a simple system that gives you very specific information about what people are like and how they interact with someone else (or would interact). This system was discovered in 1973 by Irene Hamlen Stephenson and developed by her alone.

Question: What is the difference between biorhythm and IHS-Biorhythm?

Answer: Biorhythm (sometimes spelled bio-rhythm) is usually defined as a system of three major cycles beginning at birth. This is a physical cycle of 23 days, an emotional cycle of 28 days, and an intellectual cycle of 33 days.

These cycles have been shown to affect patterns of behavior. There are excellent books that give the history of biorhythm, teach you how to make your own biorhythm chart and tell you what to expect on certain days, as indicated by your chart (see Recommended Sites, Books, Et cetera Page). IHS-Biorhythm uses these same three cycles, but relies on the discoveries of Irene Hamlen Stephenson which enable her (or you if you buy her courses) to construct a character analysis for someone born on that day (calendar dates have biorhythm signatures) and to determine the compatibility of that person with someone else whose date of birth, and country where born, are known.

Question: Who is Irene Hamlen Stephenson?

Answer: (Extracted from "WHOï'S WHO IN AMERICA") Stephenson, Irene Hamlen, biorhythm analyst, consultant, editor, and educator. Born in Chicago, IL, October 7, 1923. Parents: Charles Martin and Carolyn Hilda (Hilgers) Hamlin (not a misspelling). Married to Edgar B. Stephenson, Sr. on August 16, 1941. Divorced in 1946. One child: Edgar B. Stephenson.
